In VFX, one of the main mediums I’ve focused on throughout my career has been AMVs (Anime Music Videos). I’ve been making AMVs for over four years as a hobby and have learned many VFX strategies, effects, and compositing methods. Through making these AMV’s, I’ve created an online persona and platform under the username:
Here is my “RACKZ” AMV. In this edit, I forced myself to push my boundaries in terms of compositing, effects usage, time remap, and picking effective clips. This edit took upwards of a month to create and complete, dedicating most of my time to making the scenes flow between each other flawlessly, and make sure the re-composited and adjusted scenes looked like they belonged within the edit as a whole, and also the shows that I picked out.
This is my “Memories” edit, in which I focused on the secondary heroine “Yui Yuigahama” in the show called “My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, as I Expected”. In the show, she makes some hefty advances towards the main protagonist/love interest, “Hikigaya”, however, Yui never ends up getting to date Hikigaya. In my edit, I highlighted all the “memories” that Hikigaya and Yui had shared together; in order to portray all the reasons as to why Yui should’ve gotten to date Hikigaya. In this edit, I used many different types of visual effects, such as animated graphics, effect transitions, composited and re-adjusted scenes, and colour correction.
Finally, here’s my “Stuck on You” edit. I decided to make this edit right after binge-watching the entirety of the show “86—EIGHTY-SIX”. It’s a sci-fi dystopian anime in which the story follows a war between the Republic of San Magnolia and the Empire of Giad, where the Republic uses drones to fight, but the drones are piloted by humans. It’s a very emotional and bittersweet story following a group of characters with many personalities and tropes about them. The reason I made this edit was because I had noticed throughout my entire binge-watching spree, that the anime had many extremely detailed and interesting scenes. I thought making an edit to this anime would give me the perfect chance to enhance my creative skills and to try out different types of animations, effects, transitions, and overall storytelling abilities.
